The US dollar against the Swiss franc attracted new sellers during the Asian trading session on Wednesday and eroded most of the gains that had rebounded slightly the day before. Spot prices fell back to near the median of 0.8100, reaching 0.8128 at the lowest, down about 1.28%, and the exchange rate approached the 10-year low of 0.8098 hit last Friday amid general weakness of the U.S. dollar.

In fact, the dollar index tracking the dollar against a basket of currencies is hovering around its lowest level since April 2022 as confidence in the U.S. economy weakens. Additionally, betting that the Fed will soon resume its rate cut cycle and reduce borrowing costs by 100 basis points in 2025, continues to weaken its appeal to the dollar. This, in turn, is seen as a key factor in putting downward pressure on the US dollar Swiss franc currency pair.

At the same time, the initial reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to suspend full reciprocal tariffs for 90 days last week was short-lived due to concerns about a U.S. recession and the escalation of the trade war. In addition, Trump's rapid shift in stance on trade tariffs has exacerbated uncertainty and suppressed investor sentiment. This helps the safe haven currency Swiss franc and helps the tone of the US dollar Swiss franc pair.
